Hello! Thanks for stopping by.
My name’s Cynde, and I am a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. Here’s a little bit about me and why I became interested in nutrition and wellness.
About 15 years ago, I was a forty something mother who was going to school, student teaching, working part-time, and raising two active children. Around this time, I was starting to have female issues that were making it challenging for me to work or leave the house on certain days. My doctor’s advice, of course, was try birth control. Shortly afterwards, a blood test showed I was anemic. I was also experiencing unexplained heart palpitations, anxiety, mid-section weight gain, and fatigue.
Feeling frustrated with the “bandaid” approach and not wanting to find the root cause of my symptoms, I now realize that my doctor did exactly what conventional medical training has taught them to do -manage symptoms using pharmaceutical drugs. A couple of years later I received a cancer diagnosis, and I spent the next five years going from one doctor to the next trying to find answers to the onset of many more unusual symptoms. Within eighteen months of treatment for breast cancer, I had a complete hysterectomy for prophylactic reasons. Because the cancer was hormone receptive, I was not able to do hormone replacement. This is one of the reasons I became interested in holistic medicine and what initially spurred my desire to learn more about nutrition and wellness. Intuitively, I knew that what we put in our bodies matters when it comes to health.
For the next twelve years, I taught in public schools only to discover that teaching was neither sustainable nor conducive to self-care. Over a summer break, I took a Gut Health class and discovered the Nutritional Therapy Association. I completed their Nutritional Therapy Practitioner program and decided I want to help other women avoid this all too familiar experience in our healthcare system.
If you are ready to take an active role in your wellness, you have come to the right place. I would love the opportunity to help guide and empower you on your path to optimal health.
